... SHORT AND SWEET ...
Some weeks I get to Thursday, and think … “What have I achieved this week?” Well, to put it honestly, I’ve been busy procrastinating way too much, over sooooo many tasks that needed doing this month … and now there’s only 2 days left!! Guess, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed, mainly due to not prioritising and keeping a list!
Lists for me are essential to ‘survival and my sanity’, and I’ve been making them for decades now! Whenever I feel overwhelmed, it’s usually because I’ve not written down what NEEDS to be done, whilst I’ve been thinking “I’ll remember to do that” … hmmm, that didn’t work this week!!
I managed to bake two Banana and Walnut loaves and embroidered a ‘Money Pocket’ for my Grandson Lucas, who turned 13 this week. Here’s Lucas, Leo and Ambah out celebrating with all the family. We had such a lovely night together
The Money Pocket (Purple Bear Designs) was a quick, fun and easy sew.
Machines were busy when I did get going, and had three up and running on one day, feeling blessed to have such a great space to work in. I’m still finishing samples for Bernina Academy next month, so the L890 was busy most of the day.
Anyway, best I get on with this post, as I said, a ‘Short and Sweet’ one as there were only two samples, and one was completed using my embroidery module. My beloved B590 got to play this week with the stitching, and the feet photos I took were on the B790PRO, while the other machine ‘worked’. Love that I have more than one machine to play with.

Drop-Shaped Embroidery Foot #26 and NEW #26L
Another free-motion foot, with spring-action to hold the fabric down as the needle pulls away eliminating ‘flagging’, and a small opening designed to provide even pressure around the stitching area.
With the introduction of the Laser Function on the Bernina B790PRO, (and on the soon to be released new Top of the Line B990) this foot was redesigned to have a slightly larger, and different shaped opening, to allow the laser light to be projected onto the fabric through the foot. The new foot is numbered #26L (although not marked on the foot) – centre photo below.
I also changed out to a Straight Stitch plate when using this foot, altering the Security Setting in the machine at the same time
Options available for the foot – It’s available in a regular version suitable for all models, and the new style foot #26L will be provided with new machines going forward.
Foot #26/#26L had 2 different techniques to stitch out, including one utilising the Embroidery Module.
... This Week’s Foot Highlights or Challenges ...
‘Machine Embroidery’ – I chose a built in design for this sample, and reduced it to 80% of it’s original size., as I was using the Medium hoop. It stitched out well, and I used the Yellow Bobbin Case with Bobbinfill in it. Tension was great.
‘Contrast Quilting’ – I played around with black thread on one side and yellow on the other, so that the result would be obvious. A close up of the stitches, which from the back look like the black thread is peeping through, is actually the needle holes in the fabric, which would have the black thread running behind it. After washing, those holes would close up and hide the upper thread. I found Straight Stitch #1 (default top tension 5.25) and Rasant thread top and bottom gave a good result. Quilting Straight Stitch #1302 (default top tension is 4.0) had the black thread very visible on the back.
Foot #26/#26L … My go-to foot for machine embroidery, and one of the most used feet here in The Sewing Gypsy Studio.
